About

The Chehalis Valley Historical Society was started in 1984 by Randy Beerbower and Mike Clark in Elma, Washington. The museum was originally housed in the old National Bank of Commerce building in Elma. In April 1985, CVHS purchased the contents of the Schafer museum collection. The museum moved to Montesano in the spring of 1988. The present location of the museum is a former Lutheran church, which was built in 1906. Randy is still active in CVHS to this day, and one of our current projects is to secure a building in Elma for a secondary museum.
